Founded in 1982, SunFest is Florida’s largest waterfront music and art festival. Held annually in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida the first week in May, SunFest attracts more than 165,000 visitors. The Honda Classic ready to get underway in Palm Beach Gardens

The Honda Classic begins this week from the Champion Course at PGA National Resort and Spa. The PGA Tour event has become one of the premier events on tour and kicks of the tour’s Florida swing. Fans can look forward to a great field that includes Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler and more. q new media is the Official Interactive Partner of The Honda Classic. Great resource for speeding up your website

We use a content delivery network (MaxCDN) to host our clients’ static website assets (graphics, javascript files, etc.). The result is a significant decrease in load time which among the many benefits can actually help your search engine optimization. But, simply using a CDN, while highly effective, is not the only strategy you should use to speed up your site.

Recently, MaxCDN redesigned their website and managed to decrease their homepage load time to .5 seconds! They have a great blog post that details how they did it. I encourage you check it out!

Social media photo aggregation and integration from Exclaimr

q new media is proud to launch exclaimr. exclaimr is a web application that allows you to automatically pull photos from social media websites like Instagram and Twitter using either hashtags, check-in locations or photo gallery id’s.

We can pull photos from Twitter and Instagram using hashtags (#yourkeyword), Foursquare using location check-ins, Flickr via tags or account username and Facebook via gallery id. The photos are inserted into a photo gallery in real-time.

Then we custom integrate the gallery into your website, insert it using an iFrame, create a new one page website and/or create a custom application for use on your Facebook page.

The following are a list of apps I use on my iPhone that I find invaluable for conducting business when I’m away from the office. Perhaps some may be new to you and help you out as well.

Scanner Pro
From Readdle.com: Scanner Pro transforms your iPhone and iPad into portable scanners. It allows you to scan receipts, whiteboards, paper notes, or any multipage document.
Scanned documents can be emailed and printed, uploaded to Dropbox, Google Drive and Evernote, or simply saved on the iPhone/iPad.

SugarSync
From SugarSync.com: SugarSync’s file sync, online backup, and file sharing service makes it easy to stay connected. Secure cloud storage for all your files — documents, music, photos, and videos. I find SugarSync to be superior to other cloud sync and backup services such Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

FTP on The Go
FTP on The Go allows me to connect to any one of my servers, download and edit HTML files and upload them back to the server. Great for those small website edits that aren’t worth a trip back to the office.

HootSuite
The HootSuite app allows me to stay on top of social media marketing efforts. It allows me to not only monitor and track my posts, but will send one post to multiple social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.

New site for The Honda Classic launched

We’re proud to announce the launch of our latest website, www.thehondaclassic.com. The Honda Classic is a PGA Tour event held at PGA National on the Champion Course, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The event is widely regarded as one of the best on tour and has a top field of PGA Tour professionals to back that up.

Due to a change in mobile device policy at PGA Tour events, patrons of The Honda Classic are now allowed to use mobile phones in designated areas. As such, the tournament wanted to have a mobile friendly website. Instead of programming separate sites for users of smart phones and tablets, we developed a responsive design site that looks great in all devices.

I often (despite our best efforts) see sites that start strong out of the gates in relation to regular updates, interaction with visitors and cross promotion with social media platforms only to slowly taper off over time. This is especially true with sites that have their own Content Management System (CMS) where the client is responsible for their own updates.

Recently a client of ours had stopped updating their site altogether- blog posts were months old, news hadn’t been updated, etc. The result? Google Analytics showed a massive drop in visitors- not great for a site that sells banner ads as part of larger promotional package.

Our solution was to contact the client and offer to create a site action plan that included an editorial calendar of sorts. Basically, we created a schedule of updates that they should be making on certain days of the month. So every Monday they post to one area of the site, every Wednesday to another, etc. It also includes some items that only need to be done once or twice a month. We also provided consultation on their social media strategy as their current online efforts seemed disjointed.
